• If we are in a situation where we feel like we aren't thriving, first, we need to be objective and determine whether it is just us, or if there is a consensus about the situation. Then, talk to colleagues, and find out if we're alone or if others are feeling the same way. See if there is a way to tackle it together as a group. Then decide if we want to stay there. Do we want to endure this? Are we planning an exit strategy? 

• When entering a new role of managing people, the skills that got us where we are, aren't going to get us where we need to go.
• People skills are often the hallmark of effective leaders. 
• Leadership is not about us; it's about everyone else. We need feedback about ourselves in a real way at a level we've never had before.
• There is no excuse to walk around blind to our true strengths and weaknesses. 
• Capture knowledge from those who have worked in the industry longer than us.
• We feel most supported when we feel understood.
